Freeze sample using the CRYOKIT

As soon as the 10-min timer ends:

Remove both Styrofoam box lids, place the Cryokit rack on top of the Styrofoam float on the surface of the liquid nitrogen, and replace both box lids. This process should be performed as quickly and smoothly as possible.

<aside> 💡 The ideal cooling rate is to reach -80 degrees C in 5 min.

Once a temperature of -80 degrees is reached, remove both box lids and use the tongs to press down on the Cryokit rack to submerge the straws in the liquid nitrogen.
Carefully remove the 0.5 mL straws and tip the Cryokit rack over so that straws with sperm sample fall to the bottom of the box.
Remove the Cryokit rack and float.
Label the aluminum cane with attached viso tubes and submerge it into the liquid nitrogen for 10 s until properly cooled. Load the straws into viso tubes while keeping both submerged as much as possible to avoid unwanted warming.
Transfer cane(s) to a liquid nitrogen storage dewar (dewar #1). Be sure to transfer canes from liquid nitrogen box to storage dewar within 2 s.
